Johnson Service Group is looking for a Maintenance Worker for one of our clients in San Jose. This person will assist in trash and debris removal and graffiti abatement at locations such as work sites, on waterways and raw water facilities, including and encampment generated trash, debris and hazardous pollutants; ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials as established by Valley Water guidelines.
Job duties:
This position will perform work in Field Operations, and assigned to the group performing Good Neighbor/Illegal Encampment duties. This position will also perform duties related to core work related to flood protection and field maintenance as necessary.
Knowledge, skills and abilities needed to do the job:
Ability to drive class C vehicles to work sites, be able to follow verbal instruction and poses knowledge of processes to perform Encampment Cleanup and Good Neighbor work.
Responsibilities:
Perform varied maintenance and construction work for flood control and water distribution facilities and properties.
Construct, maintain and repair flood control and groundwater recharge facilities; patch cracks; build and remove small dams and lay riprap; perform concrete work; break and remove rubble, place forms and install reinforcements; mix, pour and finish cement.
Assist in cleaning up work sites; ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials as established by Client guidelines; regulate the loading of sludge and the cleaning of sludge ponds at water treatment facilities.
Operate a full range of light construction equipment including cranes, skiploaders, small trenchers and trucks; construct, repair and maintain dams, channels, roads, rights of way and other water distribution and flood control properties.
Assist in performing preventive maintenance on pumps, valves and other water distribution facilities; assist craft and technical staff in various mechanical, electrical, carpentry and painting work.
Perform traffic control functions; set up traffic warning devices and barricades; direct traffic around work sites.
Operate and maintain a variety of maintenance equipment including hand, air and power tools, generators, compressors, cement mixers, trucks, tractors and forklifts.
Check job site for potential hazards; determine precautions for safe equipment operation; perform assignment in compliance with safety regulations.
Haul equipment to and from job sites; inspect equipment, make operating adjustments and perform minor preventive maintenance and repair.
Experience: Two (2) years of construction or field maintenance experience.
Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
Pay rate: $32.43 contract
