Senior Project Controller

Location:  Calgary

Position Overview:
JSG is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Project Controller for a long-term contract role with our client, focused on a large-scale solar energy project. The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing financial and project controls to ensure the project's success from inception to completion. This contract is expected to last 18 months.

Key Responsibilities:

1. **Project Financial Management:**
   - Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
   - Monitor project costs and financial performance, ensuring alignment with the approved budget.
   - Conduct regular financial analysis and provide insights to project management for informed decision-making.

2. **Cost Control and Monitoring:**
   - Implement cost control processes to track project expenditures.
   - Identify cost-saving opportunities and risks, and recommend corrective actions.
   - Prepare and review cost reports, variance analyses, and cost forecasts.

3. **Schedule Management:**
   - Collaborate with project managers to develop and maintain project schedules.
   - Monitor project progress and milestones, ensuring timely completion of project phases.
   - Analyze schedule variances and implement mitigation strategies as needed.

4. **Risk Management:**
   - Identify and assess project risks, developing risk mitigation plans.
   - Monitor risk factors and ensure proactive measures are in place to address potential issues.
   - Report on risk status and impacts to project stakeholders.

5. **Reporting and Documentation:**
   - Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders.
   - Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including financial records, schedules, and risk assessments.
   - Ensure compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements.

6. **Stakeholder Coordination:**
   - Act as a liaison between project management, finance, and other project stakeholders.
   - Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among project teams.
   - Address stakeholder inquiries and provide timely updates on project financials and progress.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., PMP, CMA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in project control, financial management, or a related role, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
- Strong proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project) and financial systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
