Johnson Service Group (JSG) is currently recruiting for an
Applications Engineer – Die Sinking EDM (DSEDM)
Location: Lincolnshire, IL (Onsite position with up to 50% travel in the region)
Main Tasks:
- Develop and conduct dealer, customer, and staff training programs on the safe and effective operation of the machines and equipment.
- Perform test cuts to analyze the ability of the machine's performance; identify ways to reduce test cut deficiencies.
- Conduct time studies, test cuts, and machine demonstrations.
- Coordinate presale demonstrations and support trade shows and open houses, including equipment procurement, set-up, demonstration, and discussion with potential customers.
- Maintain a close relationship with the Sales personnel and respond timely to any requests for Applications support.
- Review Applications aspects and feasibility of RFQ’s and turnkey systems.
- Provide technical applications and phone support to customers; identify problems and decide the best and most efficient course of action for any requested involvement.
- Maintain a professional appearance of the demonstration centers, including all fixtures, machines, and equipment; make recommendations for necessary demo center machines, tools, and equipment.
- Develop and distribute technical application documentation to the dealers, customers, and staff.
- Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; and three to five years’ experience in EDM Wire/Sinker and Tool Making/Precision manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Systems, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficient in CAD/CAM Programming Solutions, such as PEPS/Opticam, ESPRIT, Solid Works, or Mastercam. Knowledge of Great Plains or similar software programs is helpful.
- Knowledge of Great Plains or similar software programs is helpful.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in various forms with several abstract and concrete variables. Define problems and troubleshoot situations using strong conceptual thinking abilities. Ability to interpret technical documents limited to brand knowledge.

- The employee must on occasion lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position may require the Applications Engineer to work irregular hours and spend up to 50% of the time traveling to customer and company locations either domestically or internationally.
