focus of the Assistant Construction Manager’s role is to organize the monitoring and compliance of the Contractor’s work force on the front end and back end activities, and act as the Construction Manager’s designate for these activities. The Assistant Construction Manager shall report to and support the Construction Manager.


Pre-Construction Input & Preparation

• Supervise the pre-construction training and orientation of project field personnel

• Plan and organize spread set-up and resources

• Provide in-depth knowledge of project and schedule

• Monitor 3rd party agreements for timely execution of project

Monitoring of Contractor Performance During Construction

• Provide support, assistance, and back-up to the Construction Manager on all facets of construction and, as such, assure that all of the work performed on the spread is carried out in accordance with the Contract Documents and in an orderly fashion

• Liaise closely with the QA/QC, Safety and Environmental Advisors to ensure, to the extent practical, that project guidelines are being implemented into the work

• Work closely with the Land Agent to ensure Landowner restrictions are adhered to

• Assist the Construction Manager in handling all on-site logistical planning associated with the assigning of Inspection Staff to work tasks and work areas

• Support the Construction Manager in ensuring that the Construction Contractor expeditiously undertakes to employ whatever forces are necessary to properly rectify any identified Contract deficiencies

• Interface with Construction Contractor’s supervisory staff on a day-to-day basis and assist in resolving problems which arise between the Inspection Team and the Construction Contractor

• Prepare and assist other Activity Inspectors in the preparation of the necessary daily reports

• Assist the Construction Manager in ensuring that all field staff, plus the Construction Contractor’s superintendent and foremen, are thoroughly familiar with and in compliance with all Specifications, Drawings, and any Special Conditions applicable to the Project

• Be consistently available on the Right-of-Way and to verify that the quality control system which has been developed for the Project is operating effectively

• Provide back-up inspection on activities that may be temporarily undermanned from time- to-time, and to prepare the appropriate Activity Reports.

Post-Construction Project Resolution and Close-out

• Organize field office demobilization

• Assist in claims resolution

• Identify deficiencies for future action

• Coordinate data collection and provide report to Owner

• Provide input to as-building process

• Provide post construction evaluation and lessons learned document

• Review base estimate and schedule to actual and provide feedback
