Position – Contract Manager
Department – Global Sourcing and Contract Management

Term – 12-month contract (Maternity Leave Cover)

The opportunity:

In partnership with the Global Sourcing teams, the Contract Manager is responsible for all inbound/procurement contract negotiations and ongoing contract lifecycle management activities. You will advise on a wide variety of commercial contracts including marketing & events, contingent labour, corporate services, facilities, I.T. with a particular focus on data privacy, data security and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In this role, the incumbent will work closely with Legal team colleagues, as well as with business leaders throughout the company, on a myriad of deals. Along with raising the business acumen pertaining to the discipline of contract management, you will help us to build scalable tools and processes to support a growing global business as well as the sourcing and procurement transformation initiative. You must bring exceptional business judgment and creativity to your daily role and have a track record of collaborating and thriving in a fast-paced, team environment.

You are great at:

  • Drafting, evaluating, reviewing, and tracking supplier agreements and aligning with Company legal standards.
  • Researching global data protection laws and policies, reviewing privacy impact assessments, and other relevant data protection activities
    Independently interpreting contractual clauses, and managing contractual disputes, including corrective action.
  • Reviewing and processing statements of work.
  • Managing and administering the contract change order process; Managing the contract close out procedure as applicable to established contracts.
  • Reviewing and transitioning of all supplier contracts related to merger and acquisition transactions to ensure that all contracts are loaded into the Company contract repository, and set up for effective management and administration, Identifying risks and opportunities
  • Providing support to special projects or other areas within the team
  • Performing related duties as assigned

What it takes:

Education:

  • JD, LLB degree or equivalent
  • Desired: Fully qualified lawyer with 2+ years post qualification work experience

Skills and experience:

  • 1-3 years related experience.
  • Legal background with advanced skills in contract preparation, evaluation, negotiation, drafting and interpretation of a wide variety of agreements in areas including IT software, hardware, telecom, network, facilities, marketing, events and/or professional services would be considered a strong asset.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with all levels of the company including executive management, managing stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and expertise in common and/or civil law.
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines in a new and changing environment.
  • Provide guidance on contract matters to Sourcing managers or other operational staff, including training in contracting practices and procedures.
  • Strong capabilities and expertise in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) designation through the National Contract Management Association or other similar designation or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with international privacy laws would be an asset.
  • Experience working collaboratively and effectively with cross-functional team.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure to meet frequent deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strength in working in a high change environment.
  • Proficient computer skills including, word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, records management classification system and email.
  • Fluency in a language other than English is an asset.
