Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized Professional Staffing and Recruiting firm that is currently looking for a Director of Warehouse Operations in the West Suburbs of Chicago.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for all operations in company-owned and third-party warehouses.
  • Coach and counsel Associates to improve overall performance, while promoting an open-door environment.
  • Maintain safe and healthy working environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Track and manage key performance indicators.
  • Ensure that team members’ performance reviews are conducted in a timely manner.

Warehouse Operations

  • Day-to-day warehouse operations, including shipping/receiving, picking/putaway and core processing.
  • Ensure safety practices are discussed and supported as the first priority.
  • Fulfill all pick list lines in 24 hours at a minimum success rate of 98%.
  • Work cross-functionally to define and implement new material flow concepts to support business growth requirements.
  • Establish procedures and quality controls to insure on time, error free, and efficient processing of receipts and fulfillment of orders.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within the warehouse and carry out design and implementation of the same.
  • Maintain cycle count protocols to achieve a minimum count accuracy of 98%.
  • Involvement with team building and continuous improvement as well as develop business partner relationships with all departments.
  • Arrange and develop process improvement ideas and implement solutions to enhance the operating quality and efficiency of the operation.
  • Ensure practices are in place to meet or exceed customer audit requirements.

Logistics Operations

  • Ensure safety practices are discussed and supported as the first priority.
  • Ensure that all country-of-origin certificates are filed timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for fleet of semis and trucks, including maintenance and registrations.
  • Responsible for inbound and outbound freight performance.
  • This position owns the relationship with the 3PL


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field. Will consider equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in warehouse operations involving inventory putaway and retrieval systems.
  • Experience in leading a large team with multiple responsibilities 
  • Experience in managing a system of safety protocols 
  • Experience in use of ERP systems, with knowledge of QAD a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience in use of quality tools to root-cause, contain, and solve problems.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution.
  • Familiarity with 5s, Lean, and PFEP concepts
  • Experience in developing standard work and monitoring KPI's
  • Ability to develop trusting relationships with entire team by being accessible, understanding challenges of each teammate and spending ample time on the floor working with teammates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills must show a strong ability to motivate and lead management team- including meeting facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
