JSG Professional Services is looking for an Embedded Systems Developer for one of our Clients.  This person will work in the SWM Division (Signal Processing, Wireless and Medical).  Will work on various product solutions working with DSP, Bluetooth Solutions, ASICs, and firmware & software dev solutions.  This position focus’ on the design and development of embedded systems solutions to augment the division’s ASIC and ASSP offerings.  Along with applications and building blocks for wireless and audio DSP IC’s and firmware for Software Development Kits (SDKs). 

Responsibilities:

  • Building embedded solutions for wireless and/or audio DSP system-on-chip devices.
  • Develop firmware for wireless applications, particularly using Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Contribute critical firmware components to the SDKs for ICs such as:
    • Wireless protocols
    • Sample applications
    • Hardware abstraction layers
    • System libraries
    • Bootloaders & Boot ROMs
  • Contribute to system level validation of ASICs & ASSPs.
  • Contribute to the system architecture of wireless and/or DSP platforms including providing input to the IC architecture, board-level system design and defining interactions between hardware & software.
  • Providing technical content for end user documentation.
  • Support for customer issues or requests.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably with specialization in embedded systems, communications protocols, or digital signal processing.
  • 8+ years of experience working with embedded systems and firmware development.
  • Experience with wireless technologies especially Bluetooth Low Energy and Bluetooth Classic or other Bluetooth applications.
  • Interest or experience with the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience in developing solutions to quality-driven processes or standards.
  • Excellent understanding of embedded system design at the board & IC levels.
  • Strong embedded software development skills with experience in C and/or assembly language.
  • Good knowledge of microprocessor architecture including memory sub-systems, interrupts & typical peripherals such as timers, UART, I2C, etc.
  • Experience in system evaluation using FPGA prototype platform.
  • Detail-oriented and quality conscious throughout development cycle.
  • Experience in using standard lab equipment for testing, taking measurements & debugging systems.
  • Experience with scripting languages, preferably Python.
  • Experience in developing test automation would be an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
