As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will support the development of our integrated software testing efforts on our Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) testbeds to ensure the correctness and performance of our avionics and ground support equipment for spaceflight systems.

The Advanced Development Program (ADP) is Blue Origin’s team dedicated to developing mission architectures, creating, and fostering new technologies into our existing offerings, building our next generation of leaders, and commercializing new platforms, such as our planned Lunar Lander program, Blue Moon (Link: https://www.blueorigin.com/blue-moon ), our planned commercial space station, Orbital Reef (Link: https://www.blueorigin.com/news/orbital-reef-commercial-space-station ), and other ambitious space destinations programs that fuel Blue Origin’s growth and further its mission. Responsibilities:

  • Support software test planning and execution on the Avionics HIL test beds.

  • Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and iteratively design and build the software infrastructure of the HIL test beds

  • Integrate hardware simulation and fault injection solutions with real-time vehicle simulations

  • Support with the HIL integration of flight avionics hardware and software

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science or related technical discipline

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated experience of integrating and testing software on vehicles

  • Experience with programming in C, C++, Python and/or Simulink

  • Proficient in the use of standard test and troubleshooting equipment

  • Preference for and ability to thrive as a member of a small, tightly integrated team

  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired (but not required):

  • Experience with development and execution of a large-scale verification of avionics on autonomous spaceflight systems
  • Experience supporting testbeds for spaceflight systems

Job Details and Requirements Section

  1. Can you give us an overview of the project this resource would be working on and what the day-to-day activities would look like? Looking for all things testing on a space vehicle.  Software test background: have experience developing software for Avionics test equipment.  Experience with test automation, aerospace test standards.
  2. Is team currently on site, remote or combination? Preference is onsite, will consider remote (possibly 1 resource onsite, 1 resource remote).  At least one onsite.

Candidate Detail Section

  1. What programs, technologies, certifications that would be useful for them to already know?  Simulink, Python, strong software development experience.

  1. What non-technical Skills are necessary (such as communication, problem solving, team player, i.e.)?   Problem solving, be curious driven, humble.

  1. Ideal Candidate background and how many years required?   Open to range: one to be senior level (10 to 15 years), one less senior (2 to 5 years)

  1. Confirm required education?  Engineering, Computer Science, Bachelors.

                            Supplier questions:

  1. Is this role focused on building out test automation? Or also executing tests?  Initial will be infrastructure development. What will they do in Simulink?
  2. Can they be from other industries? Yes, automotive and others will work.  Might not be applicable but will take a look.
  3. Any particular test equipment experience: LabView, National Instruments (companies that use).
  4. Strong need in a particular software?  Open to all, some C, Python, etc.
  5. Two roles; do you want us to mention on resume if they are only remote?  Yes, it would be helpful.
  6. What job title should we as recruiters be looking for? Software test engineer, avionics software engineer, software developer.
