As part of this hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will be responsible for working closely with engineering design and test teams to support all manufacturing efforts necessary to build human rated orbital launch vehicles. You will be responsible for planning and commissioning the tooling, equipment, facilities, and processes necessary to manufacture and test launch vehicle subassemblies, while simultaneously supporting the design and development of these subsystems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of detailed assembly, engineering release, tooling definition, manufacturing process development, configuration management, and production support. To be successful in this position you will have proven skills in manufacturing processes, authoring documentation, controlling configuration, and translating engineering design to engineering product. This will support Blue Origin's B and C shifts.


  • B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering or other relevant field.
  •  4+ years of proven experience in the design or manufacture of structural and hydraulic systems
  • Experience and passion for working with complex, precision assemblies.
  • Experience working directly with aerospace drilling operations
  • Experience with hydraulic systems critical to mission success
  • Experience as a manufacturing, production support, liaison, or quality engineer in a production-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Experience and success executing production support of hardware on the shop floor.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably CREO, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and computer skills. Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately (in writing and verbally) at multiple levels of an organization from executive leadership to the shop floor.
  • Demonstrated experience with work instruction creation, mBOMs, and configuration management.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.


  • Experience concepting assembly tooling
  • Experience working in a product design, manufacturing, construction, prototyping, or machine shop environment.
  • Experience with component machining and traditional fabrication processes (milling, turning, grinding, casting, forging, etc.).
  • Experience with precision assembly processes that utilize LN2 or other freezing agents, vacuum ovens or other expansion agents, shrink fits, interference fits, and running fits.
  • Experience with fluid system bleed and purge operations.
  • Experience with safety critical systems.
  • Experience transitioning products from development to production.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma processes and implementation.

Job Details and Requirements Section

  1. Can you give us an overview of the project this resource would be working on and what the day-to-day activities would look like? This role has some autonomy given the shift timings.  Updating work orders, no MRB associated with this role.  Onboard on A shift, be released to B or C shift. 
  2. Is this new headcount or a backfill? New headcount.

  1. How large of a team are they working on? 130 Engineering and Technical resources
  2. Is team currently on site, remote or combination? 100% onsite in WA.
  3. Will any of the following be required for this position: overtime, travel, on call, weekends, off hours?  No OT but note the shift timings: B shift is Monday – Thursday, C shift is Friday – Monday.

Candidate Detail Section

  1. What programs, technologies, certifications that would be useful for them to already know?  Grasp of WindChill and Creol, ability to navigate 3D models, navigate process documentation.

  1. What non-technical Skills are necessary (such as communication, problem solving, team player, i.e.)?  Team player, transparency.

  1. Ideal Candidate background and how many years required? Over 4 years at a minimum.

  1. Confirm required education?  Bachelor’s in engineering minimum.

                            Supplier questions:

  1. How much is structural assembly experience should they have? Very imperative. 
  2. How would the resource spend their day?  There would be no pie chart; 100% on assembly and hydraulic. Must move through the system quickly.
  3. Industry background: Open to other industries besides aerospace.
  4. Mass drilling?  Aircraft assembly?  Yes, not necessarily riveting.
