Johnson Service Group is actively seeking a Final Engineer North of Atlanta, GA. This is a direct hire position. Relocation assistance is offered. 

This position is a member of the Final Engineering team.  This position requires excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), strong analytical skills, and a fundamental knowledge of warehousing/distribution logistics concepts and trade-offs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:   

  • Primarily work on projects for final engineering (>90%)
    • Perform final engineering process for outside purchases considering technical, financial, scheduling and installation requirements
    • Support procurement and project management in the vendor selection process providing fundamental product analysis and technical verification of quotes
    • Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, codes and Standards
    • Collaborate with internal and external resources to ensure successful integration of outside purchases
    • Design of Electro-Mechanical Systems using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
    • Drafting and drawing review and approval, Parts lists, BOM, electrical and manufacturing drawings.
    • Create, review and edit Layouts for sales and installation.
    • Vendor selection, Technical Specifications for Purchasing, Component sourcing.
    • Assemble and test designed products
    • Project Engineering.
  • Occasionally work on projects in the sales phase (<10% of time)
    • Guiding and supervising design engineers
  • Perform technical analysis/feasibility for new products/projects
  • Generate/determine mechanical specifications based on customer requirements
  • Support generation of cost/technical proposals
  • Support requests for quotes for 3rd party vendors and subcontractors
  • Develop and maintain pertinent project scheduling and priorities
  • Create installation drawings / documents
  • Create permit drawings / documents
  • Oversee conveyor and 3rd party equipment installations
  • Help improve standards within the department to facilitate increases in engineering efficiency
  • Design work stations
  • Serve as project engineer responsible for coordinating aspects of the project to:
    • Meet or exceed technical specifications
    • Ensure adherence to the schedule 
    • Help to achieve budgetary goals
    • Provide technical support to customers and internal staff


  • 5+ Years’ experience with specifying, engineering and approving standard material handling equipment such as packaging machines, carton handling machines, spiral conveyors, flow racks, tote handling machines, totes, work stations, platforms, mezzanines, compressors, belt curves, flex conveyors, telescopic belt conveyor, etc.
  • Ability to work independently without daily supervision
  • Travel domestically and internationally is required for training, site evaluations, and meetings with customers, vendors and authorities: Short term up to 50%, long term not to exceed 20%
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle vendor negotiations internally and externally from a technical standpoint
  • Strong time management & organizational skills
  • Excellent math, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • BS Degree in ME, EE, or IE

Computer Skills •        

    • Strong experience utilizing CAD tools is a hard requirement
    • Proficient in the Microsoft office suite with focus on: Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Overtime (occasional) as required by work. 
  • Travel is required up to 50% on a monthly basis but long term should be approximately 20%
  • Ability to travel by air both domestically (US) and internationally (primarily Austria and other parts of Europe as well as Canada)
  • Professional office etiquette is required at all times
  • Document all key project information in detail and in truth
  • Develop all specifications with the human factor in mind, i.e. safety, ergonomics, and quality of life considered
