Johnson Service Group is recruiting for an experienced, Fire Protection Engineer, for a 6-month contract assignment with Bechtel National starting January 3, 2022.

This position is located at the Uranium Processing Facility (UPF) in Oak Ridge, TN and works on a 9-80 schedule with every other Friday off. Start times are flexible but the standard work week is Monday - Thursday from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm. The schedule on working Fridays is: 7:00am-3:30 pm.



Local candidates preferred – Per Diem is not being offered.

Role Overview:

  • Work as part of the Fire Protection team designing and/or procuring the plant fire protection systems as well as providing construction support.
  • Preparing technical reports and studies and design documentation, performing calculations using engineering software.
  • Providing construction support and preparing specifications for complex mechanical equipment and supporting systems.
  • Interfacing and coordinating with other engineering/construction disciplines and the client in the development of the design and installation of the systems.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology.
  • 6+ years of experience in fire protection system design and construction; capable of developing design documents, including piping and instrument diagrams and equipment data sheets, that incorporate the applicable design requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the IBC and NFPA standards including but not limited to NFPA 13, NFPA 72, NFPA 801, NFPA 101, and NFPA 241.
  • Nuclear experience in working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ASME-NQA-1.
  • Knowledge of engineering planning and control methods including computerized methods.
  • Proficient in the use HASS (Hydraulic Analyzer for Sprinkler Systems).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidate must complete security questionnaire and successfully clear site access requirements check.
