Johnson Service Group is currently assisting our global manufacturing client with their need for a direct hire, Maintenance Supervisor in the greater Columbia, Missouri area. The incumbent will support 3rd shift operations and is responsible for supervising approximately 8-10 maintenance technicians.


  • Leading their work group, ensuring safe work conditions, maintaining production and facilities equipment, meeting department goals, and project-based maintenance assignments.
  • Planning and scheduling maintenance activities including day-to-day cross-functional coordination with operations, quality, safety, and engineering, labor and parts allocation, and tracking work in SAP.
  • Demonstrating the knowledge, experience, and skills required to engage a technical workforce and assist in solving problems through rapid problem solving (on-shift) and through the implementation of sustainable countermeasures.
  • Communicating effectively at all levels of the organization concerning safety, quality, productivity, customer issues, plant policies and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Directing, maintaining, and enforcing the company safety program for the maintenance department including auditing and oversight in operations.
  • Ensuring a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use and maintenance of all operations, facilities, and shop equipment and resources and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Tracking and analysis to drive continuous improvement of key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance (labor, parts) cost, PM compliance, work order completion.
  • Participating in capital expenditure budgeting process, expense budgets, labor planning and schedules


  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience; OR Associate degree and 7+ years of experience.
  • Prior maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Candidate must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work in the United States.
  • Previous direct supervisory or similar leadership experience
  • Prior knowledge and/or experience advising high performance work groups and experience with implementation and monitoring of continuous improvement systems
  • Able to work all shifts if needed and periodic weekend work.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to work effectively with limited supervision

Additional Information:

  • Eligible for monthly shift premium
  • Eligible for OT when scheduled beyond 10 hours M-F and/or working Saturday or Sunday
  • 3rd shift hours: 11:00pm – 7:30am
  • Full benefits available for salaried employees
  • Position reports to the Maintenance Manager
