Johnson Service Group is Seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for our Client in Livermore!

The Manufacturing Engineer develops process parameters and tools to manufacture Nitinol medical device components to meet customer requirements. This includes but is not limited to understanding customer drawings to develop a processing sequence for manufacturing, writing manufacturing documentation and instructions, guiding technicians and operators, monitoring yield and component quality, designing tools and fixtures, creating NC-programs for laser cutting, calculating estimated process times, and preparing quotations for components and non-recurring engineering services.

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of customer specifications and assessment of manufacturability
  • Quoting components and engineering services per customer requests
  • Managing project resources and customer expectations, communicating status
  • Creating manufacturing documentation and training production operators and technicians
  • Developing 3D-CAD tool and fixture designs, 2D-drawings and NC-codes for laser cutting
  • Characterizing processes to determine manufacturing readiness, including statistical analysis
  • Creating process qualification test plans and reports
  • Transferring projects to commercial status meeting quality system requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline
  • 2+ years’ experience as a process or manufacturing engineer. Experience with manufacturing and process engineering, preferably with medical devices or components.
  • Understanding technical drawings, tolerances, and specification requirements
  • Experience with 2D and 3D CAD software, preferably AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of FEA, DOE, GR&R, and FMEA for process development and characterization
  • Experience with statistical analysis software, preferably Minitab
  • Nitinol manufacturing and material property knowledge is a plus
  • ISO 13485 quality system experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated written communication, presentation, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented team player capable of working in a deadline dedicated environment
