Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized Contract Engineering and Technical Staffing firm specializing in Engineering and Manufacturing. We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer


The Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Process Engineer Manager and support manufacturing process improvement projects. Coordinated with our Lean/Continuous Improvement system, the ME works on specific projects to improve quality, increase efficiency and throughput and removes waste from our manufacturing processes. This includes re-design of manufacturing areas, improving tooling, and fixturing, researching, and recommending equipment for manufacturing and material handling to support manufacturing process improvement.


  • Work with Production Area Managers and Department Supervisors to optimize product flow within the plant and prioritize debottlenecking activities.
  • Optimize plant layout and leads all new equipment implementation, consistent with lean principles.
  • Consult with Product Engineering to optimize the product, make recommendations of engineering changes to improve throughput and/or improve quality.
  • Recommend improvements to work methods and/or procedures, including tooling and/or equipment.
  • Provide information to support return-on-investment calculations for Capital Expenditures


  • B.S. in Engineering from an accredited school required.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience required.
  • Industry 4.0 experience required.
  • Formal education/training in principles of quality management and Lean/Six Sigma is preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft computer experience, with strong working knowledge of Excel required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively disseminate and present information to all internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in CAD required, knowledge of SolidWorks preferred.
  • Education, training and experience in the implementation and maintenance of continuous improvement activities including principles of Lean, 6s preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills, flexible and adaptive thinking and strong leadership skills required.
  • The personality and skill to work in a team-based environment essential.
