Johnson Service Group (JSG) is partnered with a leader in the aerospace, automotive, energy, defense, and industrial markets. We are currently searching for a talented Manufacturing Engineering Manager with a strong background in 'Special Processes' for our global client.

Scope of Experience and Responsibilities:

  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or industrial engineering.
  • Previous leadership experience is required.
  • Aerospace or Industrial fuel injection experience is a plus
  • Will lead an engineering team in technical innovation, implementation, and support of operations special processes (including plating, nitride, solution heat treat, DLC, etc.).
  • Knowledge and/or experience in material sciences/ metallurgy and the development of special processes and capabilities using leading technologies.
  • Will directly lead a team of manufacturing engineers, technicians, specialists, operators, etc.
  • Strong understanding of special manufacturing processes such as welding, brazing, heat treating, machining, EDM, etc.
  • Strong understanding of special purchased materials manufacturing methods such as castings, forgings, stampings, etc.
  • Well versed in Tachuchi, DOE, 8D, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Develop department budget.
  • Strong knowledge of VA/VE, Six Sigma, Lean, TPS, dimensional analysis, formal problem solving, DOE, Taguchi, etc.
  • Experienced in BTO (Build-to-Order) and PLC (Product Life Cycle) process.
  • Manage a prototype team to cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
  • Responsible for utilizing the prototype build experience to improve the Design for Manufacturability (DFM) in the design phase of New Product Development (NPD).
  • Leads a tooling design group to support the requirements of the prototype, test, and production.
  • Must have strong professional, with the ability to thrive in a high-performance organization.

Education/Formal Training:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials or Metallurgy Engineering
  • MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials or Metallurgy Engineering
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt is preferred
  • Certificate in Lean Manufacturing is preferred

Type of Employment: Direct Hire position

Location: Greater Northern, Illinois region
