Johnson Service Group is recruiting for a Nuclear Safety Engineer. This position is located at the Hanford Waste Treatment Plant Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland, WA) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, Monday-Thursday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Selected applicants need to be able and willing to work overtime as needed. This role offers a W2 hourly base rate (time and a half for overtime) + per diem and mobilization/demobilization.

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Position Responsibilities
1. Develops nuclear safety calculations, including radiological and chemical consequence calculations and modeling of fluid flow and heat transfer for aerosol transport and in-facility deposition, explosions, and fires.
2. Develops and interprets design criteria and specifications for most complex systems, processes, structures, and equipment in a global business unit.
3. Serves as consultant to engineering management, providing advice and counsel on special engineering assignments.
4. Assists in new business efforts involving specialized engineering applications. Develops preliminary cost estimates and participates in proposal preparation and presentation.
5. Prepares and reviews project controls, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects, forecasts and change orders.
6. Provides technical direction and assigns work to subordinate engineers and others who assist on specific assignments. Reviews and checks work.
7. Coordinates and monitors the work of unique field engineering activities and of specialized outside consultants. May participate in selection of outside consultants.
8. Conducts or leads special studies on economic feasibility, new technologies, methods, or materials.
9. Interprets new or special governmental regulations engineering codes, standards, criteria and performance data.
10. Participates in the development and coordination of special technical educational and training programs for clients and/or Bechtel personnel.
11. Assists in the preparation and reviews of project procedures and cost estimates for proposals, forecasts and change orders.
12. Participates in and fosters a work environment based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience with DOE nuclear projects safety basis development, or commercial nuclear power plant licensing or analysis.
• Knowledge in nuclear safety/engineering.
• Technical knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, application of engineering methods and materials.
• Skill in oral and written communications.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Nuclear/Chemical/Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
• Professional engineering (PE) License in Nuclear Engineering or other engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of current industry or regulatory codes and standards and study criteria pertinent to the nuclear engineering discipline.
• Understands Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design guides, and relevant Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
