Johnson Service Group is looking for a Payroll Specialist for one of our Clients in San Jose.  This person would assist in all phases of payroll, from reviewing timecards, to benefits, employee paperwork, etc.  This position is on site and the person must be full vaccinated and boosted for Covid.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and review timesheets
  • Process special pays such as meal allowance, uniform allowance, etc.
  • Review and adjust retirement differential earnings.
  • Maintain employee Information on direct deposit, tax withholding, benefit deductions, union dues, dependent care, health spending account and commuter checks.
  • Perform calculation of payroll benefits deduction, leave accrual adjustment, vacation and sick leave buy back, and deferred compensation.
  • Process federal and state tax levies, child support withholding, garnishment, and other wage withholding orders.
  • Review various payroll documents on new hire, termination, retirement, auto allowance, change in employee work schedule, deferred compensation enrollment, retro pay adjustment, out of class pay and termination leave payout.
  • Reconcile medical premiums and process payment request from medical providers.
  • Generate and distribute pay stubs and manual checks.
  • Provide good customer service to Client employees by responding to payroll-related inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries coming from the payroll hotline and payroll group inbox.
  • Perform various administrative functions as required, such as copying, typing, filing, scanning, and maintaining offsite storage flies.

Qualifications:

• Quick learner and a team player.

• Ability to work independently and follow directions with minimal supervision

• Finance and payroll-related experiences.

• Experience with a fully automated financial system from Oracle, Peoplesoft, SAP or lnfor.

• Experience with MS Excel and Word.

• 12 Semester Units of college level coursework in accounting, business or related field required, Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field a plus.
