Johnson Service Group (JSG) is actively searching for a Product Manager for our client’s Manufacturing facility in the Greater Milwaukee, WI area. This is a direct hire position and fantastic opportunity to gain exposure with a Fortune 500 industry leader. The ideal candidate will develop a personal expertise on products and channels including a complete intelligence file on competitors’ products, pricing, market share, performance claims, field activity, customer service channels of market distribution and end-user preferences within a variety of Manufacturing industries. They will become familiar with product materials such as pumps, drives, controls, and transmissions. This is a 1st shift opportunity with a full suite of benefits.

Primary Responsibilities of Product Manager:

  • Coordinate with sales, engineering, customer service, technical support, manufacturing, shipping, accounting, legal, and purchasing any new products and changes to existing products to assure timely delivery and target profitability. 
  • Incorporate sales forecast, market penetration, budget estimates, strategy, advertising, research and promotional efforts required to meet current and projected market objectives and profits. 
  • Work with operations and purchasing to ensure needed product supply based on demand projections.  Specify changes in product demand so production and inventory levels can be adjusted accordingly.
  • Develop a personal expertise on products and channels including a complete intelligence file on competitors’ products, pricing, market share, performance claims, field activity, customer service channels of market distribution and end-user preferences.  Become familiar with product materials, manufacturing, packaging, and promotions. 
  • Work with sales in developing sales training programs.
  • Develop feasibility requests, approve for manufacture, and establish prices for modified products as requested by sales and marketing managers. 
  • Recommend revisions to existing products or new products based upon information from sales, engineering, and marketing. 
  •  Identify cost reduction opportunities to increase product margins. 
  • Develop plans for introducing and discontinuing products in line with the long-range market objective.
  • Provide Product Engineering with market preference and trends on products. 
  • Maintain high level of communications with sales team and sister division counterparts who also market/sell within these channels.
  • Maintain awareness of national and state legislation.  Communicate the effects of these requirements on the marketing of products and required changes to meet these requirements to the sales organization.  Ensure required product certifications are maintained. 
  • Analyze customer complaints and forward to sales, quality control and engineering departments for response.
  •  Review performance of each product in terms of profitability, volume contribution to product line, and it’s potential, and recommend product discontinuance, where applicable, or more emphasis through Marketing programs with consumer Sales and Marketing Managers. 
  • Review engineering change requests to assigned products.
  • Drive Product Design Teams as they are formed.
  •  Travel approximately 10% of the time to customer meetings and various component and product suppliers.
  •  Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of Product Manager
5+ years of relevant experience
Engineering/Manufacturing with MBA preferred. Business/Marketing, in degree Bachelor’s
Experience in marketing and managing products in the Commercial, Industrial, Municipal, Fire and / or Specialty Markets.
