Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized Contract Engineering and Technical Staffing firm specializing Engineering and Manufacturing. We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to work for a client. This is a multi-faceted position including, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Executing project engineering functions to ensure customer commitments are met
  • Preparing design registration packages for pressure retaining systems and components for CANDU nuclear power plants
  • Providing input and/or oversight to the development of conceptual/detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process
  • Preparing clear and concise design reports and technical specifications
  • Performing design-by-analysis using finite element software such as ANSYS & CAESAR
  • Performing hand calculations and applying design-by-rule formulae
  • Performing Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Supporting the manufacture of components, the resolution of manufacturing queries and assessment of non-conformances

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Licensed P.Eng. or EIT member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical Engineering), or eligible to apply
  • Experience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processes
  • Experience with FEA using software such as ANSYS & CAESAR
  • Understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniques
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentations
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environment

PREFERRED:

  • Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipment
  • Experience interfacing with customer representatives and providing oversight of vendors
  • Experience with technical project management
  • Knowledge and experience working to nuclear quality assurance programs that meet the requirements of CAN/CSA-N285.0 or NQA-1
