Stanley Consultants is currently seeking a substation 3D designer to work in our Denver office.

Primarily functions as a substation 3D designer to create substation equipment, connectors, foundations, trench, conduit, fence, grounding, and grading parts and assemblies in Autodesk Inventor software. Create skeletons, islands, and bays using the Substation Design Suite (SDS) Toolkit and Autodesk Inventor.

Produce drawings sheets for equipment plan, elevations, conduit/trench plan, grounding plans, installation details, bill of materials, and conduit schedules drawings on projects within Inventor and SDS Toolkit Parts, assemblies, and drawings created by the designer should be substantially complete, requiring limited review and mark-up by the engineer prior to completion.

Write design manual documents and standards documents that will include workflows and procedures for developing Inventor 3D models. The documents will be structured to facilitate design procedures for future projects and act as a training tool.

The engineer would not provide fully developed and marked-up details; the designer would be expected to utilize the results of calculations, design criteria, the scope of work, vendor drawings, and specifications in preparing the drawings with the engineer’s verbal overview of what is needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Utilize CAD in 3D
  • Create one-line diagram from engineering input or equipment plan
  • Create schematics from engineering input
  • Create wiring diagrams based on schematics
  • Create panel layouts
  • Create termination cabinet layouts and wire based on schematics
  • Create external connection diagrams from equipment shop drawings and wire based on schematics
  • Create cable and conduit lists
  • Participate in point to point quality assurance procedures
  • Coordinate the P&C design with physical designs
  • Complete drawings from conceptual development, design phases, construction, to as-built
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Autodesk Inventor experience 5+ years
  • Substation Design Suite for Inventor experience 3+ years
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills with drafting and engineering
  • Good understanding of what is required for project set-up and start-up
  • Basic understanding of equipment and devices used in substation and their applications, types, manufacturers, specifications, and installation requirements
     

Hourly Range:  Base Compensation: $30.42/hour  to $44.57/hour
