The System Administrator II is a member of the IT department and is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, security and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related cloud infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and projects to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and security practices.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs;
  • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and security/project/operational requirements;
  • Install and configure systems supporting infrastructure applications or business applications;
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures;
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards;
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.  Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale;
  • Configure, upgrade, support, maintain and secure the organization’s servers (physical and virtual), firewalls, applications, network infrastructure, and external cloud applications;
  • Provide Tier II, and III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues;
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures;
  • Understand key systems and communicate how they work and are connected;
  • Provide on call coverage 24/7, as scheduled
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources (physical and virtual), systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Ensure the timely escalation of any alarmed problems;
  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions;
  • Perform all tasks and responsibilities with security as the core principle and ensure that all current and any new processes follow company safeguards;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs).  To succeed in the System Administrator II position, candidates should possess the following KSAs:
    • REQUIRED
      • High attention to detail and superior organizational and time-management skills;
      • Ability to balance competing priorities and adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines;
      • Comfort working with Active Directory, Windows permissions, TCP/IP, DNS, Telnet, DHCP, FTP/SFTP, SSL/IPSEC VPN
      • Strong communication and problem-solving skills;
      • Working knowledge of network administration, topology, DNS, SSL certificates, IP addressing and subnets.
      • Able to establish and maintain effective business relationships with users, internal colleagues and external contacts.
      • Keen problem-solving skills and the ability to provide logical and creative solutions;
      • Server OS Administration - Windows Server 2012 - 2019;
      • Strong system security principles.
      • Professional firewall experience (configuration and administration);

    • PREFERRED
      • Exchange or Office 365 mailbox management;
      • Azure or other Cloud infrastructure management;
      • Microsoft 365 management;
      • Remote endpoint management;
      • Experience with Email firewall systems.
    • Background Experiences.  The following are required unless otherwise noted:
      • BS in Computer Science preferred or High School graduate possessing demonstrated equivalent System Administration experience.
      • Minimum 3 – 5+ years (5 preferred) full-time experience in professional systems administration.
      • Industry (server / network / security) certifications preferred.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, exempt position located in the Company’s West Chester office; the incumbent is expected to be present and accessible for at least 40 hours per week, subject to approved leave time, travel and other absences as described in the Employee Handbook or as otherwise agreed by the Company. The Company’s standard hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
