Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized Professional Staffing and Recruiting firm that is currently looking for a Telecomm Engineering Manager with experience in the Power Utility industry. This is a great opportunity with a top engineering firm in the Chicagoland area.

Responsibilities: 

  • Grow and diversify client base by expanding engineering work
  • Expand and cultivate our current service offerings for Fiber and Small Cells
  • Coordinate technical activities of assigned programs, including scheduling, planning, budgeting, and managing personnel
  • Monitor engineering work to ensure compliance with industry standards, company practices, and customer specifications
  • Must possess sufficient technical knowledge of programs in order to identify problems, provide guidance to staff, and be sure the work product fulfills requirements
  • Manage multiple engineering clients at the same time
  • Manage customer relationships and attend local government events including but not limited to, Chamber of Commerce events, Minority/Women Diversity events, etc.
  • Coach, mentor and develop staff through training, planning, and providing direction
  • Lead employees to meet the organizations expectations for productivity, quality, and company values and mission.
  • Work with Human Resources staff to recruit, interview, hire and develop the Telecommunications team
  • Assist with disciplinary action of staff members as needed, including terminations
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Pursue opportunities to both lead by example and foster the talent of high performing team members
  • Prioritization and streamlining of tasks to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Enhance and enforce current Quality process along with the company’s QA Manager
  • This position involves a high level of organization and the ability to multitask competing priorities
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years’ work experience or equivalent years of work experience without degree.
  • Experience in the Utility Sector
  • Experience managing and mentoring project management staff
  • Ability to manage business and technical resources
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Must be open minded, creative, and confident
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Occasional Work on Saturday - Depending on Project Needs
  • Open to travel up to 20% of the year
