HR Systems Analyst

At Academy Sports + Outdoors, our Mission is to make it easier for everyone to enjoy more sports and outdoors. The HR Systems Analyst fulfills a key role in the continuous support and synchronization of our Workday-powered HR Technology platform. Acting as a business partner to various functions within and external to HR, this role will leverage extensive knowledge to develop, design, configure and finalize technical requirements for improved HR business processes.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required.

Work Experiences:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience deploying and supporting human resource or equivalent enterprise technologies required.
  • 1+ years of development and/or configuration experience within Workday’s Human Capital Management system is preferred.
  • Broad knowledge of HR functions, policies, and procedures required.


  • Strong technical aptitude; analytical with strong problem-solving abilities and creative resolution skills
  • Customer service oriented; effective listening, speaking and writing skills with varying levels of team members and leaders
  • Ability to work well both individually and on teams
  • Ability to prioritize, remain organized and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Utilize discretion and judgment to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
  • Proven ability to provide detailed configuration specifications documentation to stakeholders


  • Manages all day-to-day tasks involving the operation and support of Academy’s Human Resource Information System, including but not limited to scheduled updates, analysis of functionality, troubleshooting problems, and preparations for system changes.
  • Lead projects on a larger scale with limited supervision such as system enhancements
  • Effectively manage the impact changes to the HR system configuration will have on existing systems.
  • Proactively communicate with external and internal customers to analyze needs then evaluate, enhance, update, and implement improvements and fixes to current processes to guarantee that data and content flows ensuring efficient data transfer to internal, external, and linked applications.
  • Own creation, validation & execution of all test scenarios in order to make an individual assessment of production readiness. Ensure that all systems are fully tested and tollgate requirements are met, prior to approving release to production.
  • Runs queries and reports as needed, analyze, interprets and makes recommendations on data as requested.
  • Provides Tier 2 technical support and assists with supporting training for end users.
  • Serves as technical business partner as it relates to all system initiatives.
  • Reviews system data on a regular basis to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Performs or manages through the appropriate team, any necessary data clean up or sanitization.
  • Responsibilities may change; team member may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Learns and follows company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior.

  • Flexible and willing to work evenings and weekends as necessary
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
