Johnson Service Group is hiring a Generational Planning & Resource Analyst (Energy - Utilities)
Client Location: Tampa, FL (33618) (Possible Hybrid)
Direct Hire Opportunity

The ideal candidate has as much experience in electric utility resource planning as possible with a strong proficiency in Planning and Risk (PaR) application Software.
  • PaR is an older resource planning application used for power generation/load/resource modeling. (This software is currently owned by Hitachi but is being / has been phased out by most companies in the industry)
  • Client may consider other types of resource planning/production cost modeling applications/tools 
Manager Notes:
Looking for Generation Resource Planning experience and should be able to discuss the Planning and Risk (PaR) resource planning tool.
We are specifically looking for someone with experience in generation resource models; PaR in particular. PROMOD (another resource planning modeling tool) experience would be acceptable depending upon the depth of experience.

Position Summary Description
  • Temporary position participates in the planning and related analysis of client’s long-range generating capacity needs including the evaluation of generation alternatives.
  • The position requires a highly developed knowledge of power resource planning principles and the exercise of highly developed professional judgment.
  • This position is responsible for the application of production costing and system optimization models in the performance of generation planning studies.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent. An Engineering Degree is preferred.
  • Registered or eligible to become a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Florida or advanced degree in related field is desirable.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in electrical utility industry required.
  • This position also requires hands-on experience with resource planning models using Planning and Risk (PaR) application software to support staff recommendations on power supply and related corporate decisions.

Essential Functions
  • Performs analysis of client's generation plan and comparison among alternative generation resources.
  • Responsible for the application of production costing and system optimization models in the performance of generation planning.
  • Performs generation optimization studies.
  • Assists in demonstrating the system capacity needs and economic justification for new resources to the Florida Public Service Commission.
  • Develops the ten (10) year site plan for submittal and presentation to the Florida Public Service Commission.
  • Performs software evaluation and contract administration for the software used for economic evaluations, production costing and in support of the corporate model
