JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Avionics Specialist duties include basic avionics electrical fabrication skills to fabricate parts within prescribed cycle-time / budgeted time and at ZIM standards of quality. Understanding of ZIM and customer produced parts lists, drawings and schematics with some supervision.
Familiarity of electrical test equipment and test procedures and knowledge and understanding of Boeing, Airbus and FAA requirements
 
Essential Job Duties:
  • Duties include laser wire marking and avionics harness fabrication. 
  • Interpreting parts lists, drawings and schematics to facilitate harness manufacture and electrical wiring installations with some supervision. 
  • Fabricate harness labels and avionics decals. 
  • Safely use all appropriate crimp tools and test equipment Use electrical test equipment and perform operational checks using technical data and test reports with limited supervision. 
  • Perform work as assigned by utilizing routine or non-routine work cards. 
  • Assist with the manufacturing and installation of wiring in lavatories, galleys class dividers, and assemblies as needed. 
  • Comply with safety and company policies and use protective equipment as required. 
  • Follow proper paperwork and documentation procedures. 
 
Secondary Duties: 
Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Job Qualifications:?
Minimum:?
  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • One (1) year Avionics installation or manufacturing experience. 
  • Basic computer skills 
  • Experience working in a similar electrical fabrication role in similar industry 
  • Must be able to learn to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, repair manuals, etc.  
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English 
PREFERRED:
  • Three (3) years Avionics installation and manufacturing experience 
  • Be able to manufacture control panels, and electrical boxes with limited supervision 
  • Ability to read and understand ZIM and customer technical data and test reports 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and perform operational checks on manufactured electrical parts with limited supervision 
  • Ability to help supervise, train and assist other less experienced technicians on large projects 
  • Ability to manufacture control panels, and electrical boxes with limited supervision 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair manufactured electrical parts with little to no supervision 
 
 
 
Physical Requirements:
  • Normal office environment where approximately 70% of work is performed in a sitting position with the remaining time walking and moving around the office area.  
  • Must possess ability to maneuver around airplanes (i.e. climbing stairs, on work stands, man lifts, etc.). 
  • Must be able to occasionally work in an industrial environment subject to extreme temperatures and loud noises. 
  • Duties require normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination for keyboard operations. 
  • Duties require typical bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, etc. with lifting typically limited to 10-20 lbs. maximum. 
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required. 
  • Ability to distinguish color is required.
