Job Description
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently seeking a Coding Specialist for a medical provider in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Summary:
- Assign codes to different services, using ICD and CPT codes
- Familiar with 1500 form and codes associated with that form
- Comfortable working with up to 250 insurance companies and staying up to date on their quarterly code changes
- Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with insurance regulations
- Follow up with the provider on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear
- Communicate with other staff regarding documentation
- Search for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual
- Review the previous day's batch of notes for evaluation and coding
- Ensure that all codes are current and active
- 2+ years’ experience in medical coding and billing or related role
