Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for a Director of Supply Chain with 5-10 years’ experience. This is a Direct hire opportunity with an Aerospace Company in Oxnard, CA.

Salary: $150K
  • Direct overall supply chain including purchasing, selection of vendors, materials planning, inventory management, warehouse management, shop floor management and logistics
  • Establish long-term relationships with Strategic Suppliers that place PTI in a lead position thereby assuring continuity of supply and best in class quality and pricing.
  • Demonstrates expertise in markets, sourcing processes, business solutions, negotiation, and leadership skills
  • Drive negotiations proactively- On time delivery, Quality, Price (LTA's where applicable)
  • Strong understanding of MRP, Inventory Control and Work Order Management in a manufacturing environment
  • Assess Supplier Vulnerability for sourcing & inventory strategy
  • Inventory Management - overall goal is continued reductions without negatively impacting customer fill rate.
  • Develop Inventory Strategies - seeking commercial and operations input (Kanban, VMI, MTO based on ABC stratification)
  • Oversee management of parameters and settings for MRP to optimize customer fill rates and inventory.
  • Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs.
  • Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers.
 
  • In depth knowledge of key supply chain/logistics processes & current best practices
  • Flexibility to seek & incorporate input from others into the plan/solid track record for effectively managing/developing a team.
  • Experience in supply chain technology/processes such as SAP, Oracle, JIT, and ERP.
  • Oversee the purchasing for product required based on planned demand from Supply Chain Planning module or input from marketing for new product launch or tests
  • Manage the various vendor relationships to produce the service level requirement to support supply chain requirements
  • Establish long-term relationships with Strategic Suppliers that place PTI in a lead position thereby assuring continuity of supply and best in class quality and pricing.
  • Manage the on-time and complete performance of buyers and suppliers
  • Work with new product development team to integrate new suppliers
  • Guides the selection, development, and management of Strategic Suppliers to meet commodity cost and performance goals, with emphasis placed on ability to identify cost targets for relevant technology and product roadmaps.
  • Drive operational excellence and best practices across the network reducing cost
  • Key performance indicators: Productivity, Inventory, Turn-Around-Time, On Time Delivery (OTD), Product Lead Time, Purchase Price Variance, Work Order Release, Supplier On Time.
  • Monitor the KPIs and metrics associated with final shipments to customers to prevent/ reduce out of stock situations, watch for trends impacting forecasting needs or marketing changes impacting forecasting requirements
  • Monitor reporting feeds into Business Intelligence system for optimization of data used in various analysis functions
  • Develops and maintains standard purchase order terms and conditions.
  • Interprets customer contractual flow-down requirements into reciprocal sub-contract flow downs on PO's, LTA's, and blankets to limit the associated risk.
  • Directs the company purchasing program ensuring compliance with government, corporate and customer rules and regulations
  • Develops and carries out programs for promoting greater productivity and efficiency within the organization. Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding organizational effectiveness
  • Understanding of purchasing and accounting principles required
  • Supports the Supplier Quality team and helps develop suppliers and sources that are properly equipped and staffed to assure a continuous supply of the required goods and services. Manages supplier performance metrics.
  • Develop knowledge of industry capabilities, new technologies, and availability of materials.
  • Oversees the receiving, stocking, kitting and shipping activities and is responsible for the accuracy of inventory and documentation
  • Knowledge of stamping, casting, forging, machining and metal finishing.
  • Provide drive, leadership, vision, guidance and support to the material function.
 
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
  • BS degree required MBA preferred with a minimum of 7-10 years' experience in Materials, Management with familiarity in Manufacturing Engineering, Defense Contracting and Government regulations, Aerospace industry or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • MRP/ERP (ORACLE E-Biz preferred) knowledge required
  • APICS Certifications (CPM, APICS or similar) preferred
 
OTHER DUTIES

Ensures organization is in full compliance with all ESCO self governance policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations, and PTI policies and procedures.

Prepares goals and objectives and career plans for direct reports and ensures they do same for their subordinates.

Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Recommends and implements disciplinary action in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Establishes criteria and procedures for procurement and material handling activities

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Possess the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to function independently with minimal supervision, exercise independent judgment and make decisions. Excellent communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with employees within organization at all levels. Considerable supervisory experience in purchasing and/or material with extensive knowledge in mechanical commodity purchasing and lean manufacturing practices and techniques. Must be perceptive in identifying problems and creative in developing solutions.

Demonstrated ability to operate in a dynamic job shop environment.
