Johnson Service Group (JSG), a nationally recognized professional recruiting firm, is seeking an onsite EHS Lead Specialist for our global manufacturing client near Columbia, MO. Full relocation assistance is available. This individual will administer EHS management activities to eliminate or reduce occupational health, production safety, environmental and fire risks. The EHS Lead will have oversight of 4- 8 direct reports with indirect oversight of 300 - 400 employees across 3 shifts.Â
Responsibilities:
Leading a team of EHS resources to support assigned area.
Acting as a coach and advisor toward the leadership team concerning EHS management.
Assuring the organization’s compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal EHS regulations
Help maintain and execute the EHS management systems and carry out inspections and audits, analyze the results, and manage the corrective actions.
Ensure the effectiveness of corrective actions to ensure prevention of reoccurrence.
Managing the incident reporting, investigation, and analysis program.
Assisting with emergency planning and response activities.
Analyzing and monitoring trends regarding incidents, inspections, audits, and corrective measures and keep the site Manager informed.
Contributing to the development and implementation of various EHS programs and procedures (ergonomics, lockout, inspections and scheduled audits, etc.)
Organizing activities to promote employee and supervisor awareness, increase their participation and encourage the adoption of safe behaviors.
Responsible for assisting in EHS strategic planning to help move the organization towards achieving all KPI’s.
Assist in up-skilling the organization regarding risk assessments and risk mitigation techniques
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in an EHS or engineering related field.
Five years of relevant EHS experience including some leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
Ability to coach and mentor team members and site leadership.
Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Experience with Microsoft Office and plant specific software systems.
Team player and approachable.
Preferred:
Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM).
Experience with behavior-based safety programs and culture change initiatives.
Experience and/or familiarity with ISO45001 & ISO14001.
High comfort level with digitized management tools.
Experience with represented workforce.
Ability to operate within and support matrixed leadership and functional teams.
