Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Dallas, Texas is seeking an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer who is familiar with flight control actuation systems to provide support to the Lower Tier Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC) 3 Missile production related to guidance and flight control hardware procurement and integration and supporting the PAC3 System production.
The Candidate will support the subject matter expert (SME), resolving technical issues and monitoring a major subcontractor and related sub tier subcontractors. The position will provide oversight and technical evaluation of production non-conformances and participation in associated failure investigations, and evaluation of vendor engineering change proposals. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of system performance characterization using DC motor parameters, torque-speed curves, step and frequency response, and experience providing design and production manufacturing support of electro-mechanical servo systems comprised of DC motors, controllers, gear and ball screw drive trains, and feedback devices.
The Candidate must be able to work in a collaborative Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment. The candidate should be a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to effectively interact with customers and contractors in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will have some experience on a learning trajectory in the field of servo control, and must possess an active (or be able to obtain) a DoD secret security clearance. Domestic travel approximately 10-20 % is anticipated for support at production integration, supplier, and customer test facilities.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field with minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or no experience with a Master degree.
• Experience with technical liaison support and failure root cause analysis.
• Experience with production, integration, and test of electro-mechanical subsystems.
• Exposure to analysis of control systems
• 3+ years of experience/exposure to motors or control systems
• General knowledge of brushless DC motor design and performance characterization.
• Ability to travel to production and customer sites.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
• Multi-discipline engineering experience with systems analysis and electro-mechanical design.
• An understanding of electro-mechanical servo control theory.
• Design experience with bearings, gear and ball screw mechanism drive systems.
• Experience in risk management.
4x10 First Shift schedule: typically 7:30am-5:30pm Monday through Thursday.
