Job Description


Join one of the leading companies in the development and construction of small modular reactors (SMRs) as they progress from design to construction. They are looking for a Senior Network Engineer (Onsite) with at least 10 years of current experience. Candidates should reside in Houston, TX.
 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Location: Houston, Texas (Onsite)
  • Schedule: Full-Time, Direct Hire
  • Pay: $140-150K., DOE.
  • Must have 10+ years of hands-on experience in network design and support across LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.
  • 5+ years of recent experience in a leadership or people-management role.
  • Familiarity with Fortinet, Aruba OS, and Aruba OS-CX
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 610 or ISO 25746
  • Must be eligible under DOE 10 CFR Part 810

Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to act as a key technical leader responsible for the design, implementation, and support of enterprise network infrastructure. This individual will partner with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable network solutions while driving strategic initiatives aligned with business objectives.
This position is full-time onsite in Houston, TX, and is best suited for a highly experienced network professional with strong firewalls, switching, wireless, and identity access expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • OR an additional 4 years of highly relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in network design and support across LAN, WAN, and wireless environments
  • Experience with:
    • Network protocols such as BGP, MPLS, OSPF, TCP/IP, and STP
    • VPN technologies, including site-to-site, IPSEC, and always-on clients
    • Authentication/authorization platforms (Aruba ClearPass, Cisco ISE, NAC, ACLs)
    • VoIP systems or QoS/CoS
    • Enterprise network hardware, including switches, routers, and firewalls
    • Service provider-supported environments
    • Demonstrated technical documentation and strong communication skills

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and administer core networking devices, including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless controllers, and access points.
  • Support and optimize LAN/WAN environments, ensuring proper functionality and configuration.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and partners on network-related issues, services, and products.
  • Lead network infrastructure projects from planning through execution.
  • Perform network inventory reviews, configuration audits, and proactive maintenance.
  • Coordinate hardware maintenance windows and provide remote/on-call support on a rotational basis.
  • Develop and implement network processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend infrastructure improvements.
  • Maintain and support VoIP systems and network services

Required Technical Expertise
  • Deep expertise with FortiGate firewalls
  • Advanced Aruba switching and Layer 2/3 networking
  • Aruba wireless and ClearPass identity & access control
  • Experience with RADIUS, TACACS+, 802.1X, and role-based access
  • Multi-site VPN, WAN, and network routing
  • Strong troubleshooting, monitoring, and automation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within a highly regulated industry
  • Familiarity with Fortinet, Aruba OS, and Aruba OS-CX
  • Relevant certifications (Cisco, Aruba, or similar)
  • Linux administration experience
  • Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 610 or ISO 25746

Industry Requirement
  • Must be eligible to work under the Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
