Johnson Service Group is searching for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the ground infrastructure component of the Sentinel Program, which is modernizing the ground-based leg of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. This is an onsite position just outside Salt Lake City, Utah.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is for a Senior Electrical Engineer, located in Ogden, UT, who will prepare designs for electrical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Sentinel program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.
Major Responsibilities:
Plans and conducts independent electrical work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit
Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides
Develops conceptual designs for electrical engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements
Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules
Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting
Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of electrical aspects of the work
This role will support design development of Electrical systems and equipment design for the Sentinel program project by preparing engineering studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements.
Work with and mentor junior electrical engineers as well as work with other technical disciplines in a team environment.
Develop new design drawings using Autocad such as single lines, panel schedules, schematics, cable block diagrams, grounding, lightning protection, cathodic protection, and more.
Perform power system analysis modeling and calculations utilizing ETAP.?Calculations will include Load Flow, Short Circuit, Motor starting, Relay Coordination, Arc Flash.
Other facility calculations include, lighting design using AGI 32, facility ground grid sizing utilizing ETAP, and underground cable thermal de-rating analysis utilizing ETAP
Perform equipment sizing calculations such as medium voltage utility and low voltage transformers, panel boards, surge protective devices, uninterruptable power supplies and battery sizing calculations
Perform circuit breaker and cable sizing calculations per NFPA 70 to include various de-rating factors.
Develop equipment and material specifications utilizing the software SpecsIntact
Develop procurement documentation (written scopes of work) as well as perform supplier proposal evaluations.
Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design
Coordinate systems requirement development and verifications with Systems engineering and the client
Minumum Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant work experience
Must be a United States Citizen
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Preferred Requirements:
MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 8-11 years of relevant experience
Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Electrical Engineering).
Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.
Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
Experience executing engineering design with Smartplant 3D.
Experience performing calculations with ETAP.
Understanding of Mechanical and Process engineering discipline drawings and system calculations, as related to electrical design requirements.
Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
Secret clearance is preferred, but not required.
