Johnson Service Group is looking for an Environmental Engineer for one of our clients in Fremont. The Environmental Engineer will play a key role in assisting environmental compliance programs and projects. This position focuses on ensuring that district operations comply with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, particularly concerning drinking water discharges, air quality, hazardous materials management, hazardous waste disposal, and sanitary discharges. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively. Experience with SharePoint and information retrieval is a plus.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Support environmental compliance programs related to drinking water discharges, air quality, hazardous materials storage, hazardous waste disposal, and sanitary discharges.
Assist in the implementation and management of environmental compliance projects, ensuring they meet regulatory standards.
Conduct research on environmental regulations and requirements to maintain district compliance with relevant laws.
Prepare and review environmental reports, permits, and documentation for submission to regulatory agencies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and safety, to address environmental issues and find solutions.
Maintain accurate records of environmental data and project progress, utilizing SharePoint for document management and information retrieval.
Assist in the monitoring and reporting of environmental performance, identifying areas for improvement and corrective actions.
Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and district standards.
Stay updated on environmental laws, regulations, and best practices to ensure district operations are in compliance.
Participate in internal and external audits related to environmental compliance.
Respond to inquiries and requests from regulatory agencies, as well as internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Job Specifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in environmental compliance related to water discharges, air quality, hazardous materials, hazardous waste, and/or sanitary discharges.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with SharePoint or similar document management systems, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
Excellent research and information-gathering skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations, particularly as they relate to water and waste management.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines and project objectives.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience working in a water district or similar utility environment.
Experience with environmental auditing or site inspections.
Knowledge of environmental permitting processes and regulatory submissions.
