Johnson Service Group, a nationally recognized professional recruiting firm, is assisting our global manufacturing client with a Field Application Engineer to support their NYC/New Jersey markets. Partnering with the local sales team, you will act as the technical lead to ensure products and solutions achieve a preferred and acceptable manufacturer status in project specifications.Â
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with customers to define electrical project needs, supply design support, product selection, value engineering, budgeting and educate on specific solutions
Act as the local product expert in: MV/ LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, motor control, power monitoring, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling switchgear (PSG), generator circuit breakers, etc.
Possess a working knowledge of short circuit, coordination and arc flash mitigation with the ability to demonstrate their benefit via SKM or Easy Power
Educating customers is key – must be a strong public speaker; comfortable developing and articulating complex technical concepts to engineers, contractors and channel partners
Participate in and develop papers for IEEE and other industry events/conferences to raise awareness of solutions
Prepare project analysis information: technical, commercial, risk assessment and financials for discussion with leadership
Qualifications:
Proficiency in applying Medium and Low Voltage switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, etc. is a firm requirement.
B.S. degree in engineering; preferably electrical with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in the electrical distribution industry; or a master’s degree with four (4) years of experience
Previous field, plant or design engineering in electrical power systems at major oil and gas companies, electric utilities or industrial facilities
Knowledge of industry codes and standards; ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA, etc.
Self-starter, accountable for results and comfortable working without detailed direction
Strong interpersonal skills – able to consider multiple viewpoints and resolve technical issues
Enjoys problem-solving
Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for our client in the US
Additional Information:
Remote when not traveling (primarily day trips only)
Direct mileage reimbursement
Resides in the northeast, willing to travel throughout NYC and NJ
