Johnson Service Group is looking for a Grad Student Intern for one of our Clients in San Jose. This person would work in the Hydraulics and Hydrology (H&H) division and assist and play a key role in deploying software for telemetry data processing.
Responsibilities:
Â
Building a python tool to retrieve NOAA satellite data
Classifying time-series data (rainfall, reservoir depth, and stream flow) to identify storms.
Implementing machine learning for peak flow prediction.
Performing engineering analysis, modeling, and consulting for internal stakeholders.
One would play a key role in developing and deploying software to process telemetry data.
The candidate should expect that most of the learning will be independent.
Qualifications:

Experience with Python, Java, Pandas, SQL, Git is must
Experience in socket programming, building python packages, and unit testing is preferred
Applicable College exp - Data Structure and Algorithm, Object Oriented Programming, Computer Networks
Must be enrolled in a Master’s or a PhD program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field at an accredited college.0.31
Effective written and verbal communicator, good team player.
The ideal candidate will have effective communication skills, be able to learn quickly, and have a proven ability to work well in a team environment. The candidate should be professional and responsible, with a good attitude. A good academic foundation in this field is necessary, with a track record of good quality work and attention to detail. Knowledge on basic data structures and python is must. Some experience of working with AWS products in desired.
Rate starting at $30.00/hr
