Johnson Service Group (JSG) is actively searching for a Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for our client’s operation near Elkview / Charleston, WV. This is a long-term contract position with competitive pay. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a state-of-the-art project.
Responsibilities:
The Lead Instrumentation & Controls Engineer will take charge of complex, multidisciplinary projects and guide high-performing teams from concept through commissioning. This role requires both technical excellence and leadership, ensuring safety, quality, and innovation at every stage. You’ll be the go-to expert shaping control strategies, mentoring engineers, and driving successful project delivery.
Qualifications:
10+ years of progressive experience in instrumentation & controls engineering, ideally in polymers, power generation, or related industries.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or Chemical Engineering.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Virginia (or the US) or equivalent certification/qualification.
Strong knowledge of instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, analyzers) and control platforms (ABB, Honeywell, DeltaV, Ovation, Allen-Bradley)
Experience drafting control narratives for programmers and working with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and SIL calculations.
Proficiency with engineering tools and software.
Excellent communication skills and fluency in professional English.
