Licensed P&C Insurance Agent - Harrisonburg, VA (Perm)
**This is a full time salary exempt direct hire role with benefits**
Job Description:
The Licensed Agent is responsible for both retaining and growing Insurance Agency client's book of business. This role combines customer service excellence with proactive sales initiatives. The position ensures high-quality servicing of existing accounts while actively prospecting, cross-selling, and closing new business opportunities to achieve agency retention and sales goals.

Retention & Service:
Provide professional, timely responses to customer inquiries regarding billing, payments, policy coverage, and claims.
Process endorsements, renewals, reinstatements, cancellations, and daily downloads within authority.
Conduct annual coverage reviews and risk analysis for assigned accounts, recommending updates or additional coverage as appropriate.
Document all interactions in AMS360 to support account servicing, retention, and sales cycles.
Build strong client relationships by identifying service needs and delivering solutions that align with agency standards.
Sales & Growth:
Prospect for and write new personal lines business (homeowners, auto, umbrella, dwelling, etc.), leveraging both inbound leads and outbound prospecting.
Cross-sell additional lines of business to existing customers during service interactions and reviews.
Contact leads, schedule appointments, and present tailored policy proposals.
Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly sales and retention KPIs established by agency leadership.
Collaboration & Compliance:
Work closely with agency leadership to implement sales strategies and service workflows.
Stay current with carrier appetites, underwriting guidelines, and market trends.
Ensure compliance with state insurance regulations and agency standards.
Other Job Duties:
Support farm business when applicable by assisting with policy reviews, coverage recommendations, and underwriting coordination.
Assist with training, mentoring, or cross-supporting team members as needed.
Creating and maintaining prospective client lists from various sources
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in insurance customer service and/or sales (independent agency experience strongly preferred).
Current Virginia (VA) Property & Casualty License required.
Professional designations such as CISR, CPIA, or CPCU preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams).
Strong knowledge of personal lines (auto, home, dwelling, umbrella); farm/agribusiness knowledge a plus.
Ability to balance customer service and sales priorities effectively.
Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency in AMS360 or similar policy administration systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
