Job Overview
Seeking a Director of Manufacturing to lead and scale our build and assembly operations. This role has full responsibility for the management, direction, and performance of manufacturing and integration functions, including mechanical assembly, panel wiring, electrical integration, and test center operations.
This is a high-impact leadership role for a proven change agent—someone experienced in operational turnarounds, process redesign, and transformation initiatives. The Director of Manufacturing will design, implement, and own scalable manufacturing systems and processes that materially improve productivity, quality, delivery performance, and business profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Operational Excellence
Lead production planning and coordination between machine shop and assembly operations to meet customer demand while optimizing labor, equipment, and capacity utilization.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing labor hours, increasing throughput, and improving build efficiency.
Establish, track, and manage KPIs for workforce utilization, efficiency, throughput, and on-time delivery performance.
Quality Management
Implement and enforce robust quality standards to ensure machinery meets customer and regulatory requirements.
Partner with Quality Assurance to resolve nonconformances, reduce rework, and drive first-pass yield improvements.
Safety & Compliance
Champion a culture of safety through strong policies, training, and accountability.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain a safe, compliant manufacturing environment.
Financial Performance & Cost Control
Develop and manage the manufacturing budget.
Lead variance analysis, cost-reduction initiatives, and margin-improvement programs.
Drive operational strategies that directly improve profitability and cost structure.
Supply Chain & Materials Alignment
Collaborate with supply chain and procurement to ensure material availability, supplier performance, and production continuity.
Improve material flow, inventory efficiency, and production readiness.
Talent & Culture Development
Recruit, develop, and lead high-performing manufacturing teams.
Build a strong performance culture centered on accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
Conduct performance reviews, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
Maintenance & Facilities
Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Lead facility planning, infrastructure upgrades, and operational expansion initiatives.
Executive Communication & Reporting
Provide clear, data-driven reporting to senior leadership on performance, risks, delays, and cost impacts.
Serve as a strategic manufacturing partner to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Proven experience in manufacturing leadership, plant management, or large-scale operations management.
Demonstrated success in turnaround environments, change management, and operational transformation.
Strong leadership presence with excellent communication, execution, and decision-making skills.
Deep knowledge of manufacturing systems, assembly operations, quality systems, and safety compliance.
