Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for a Project Engineer with 5-10 years’ experience. This is a Direct opportunity in Oxnard, CA for Aerospace company.

Salary: $135K

SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of assigned aerospace projects. You will collaborate with a team of engineers and technicians to develop, design, and test components. This position will be responsible for project planning, budgeting scheduling, and ensuring projects are completed within the established timeframe and budget. This position will require the coordination with various stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. It will also be involved in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that arise during the assigned project life cycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviews and analyzes customer specifications for design and qualification of mechanical, fuel, pneumatic, and hydraulic aerospace components including but not limited to valves, filters, manifolds, and related components.
  • Coordinates engineering programs and prepares technical proposals, schedules, and estimated hours. Coordinates all related activities from conceptual design through first phase of manufacturing. Responds to customer on technical inquiries.
  • Able to develop products using a Product Development Process in conjunction with Project Management structure.
  • Prepares and presents technical presentations.
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements.
  • Supports review of contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems.
  • Directs integration of technical activities and products.
  • Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases. Controls expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports and maintains log of all projects assigned.
  • Develops weight, stress and performance analysis and comparison analysis of existing and new products.
  • Interfaces with Principle Engineers, Designers, Test Technicians, production personnel, suppliers, marketing and sales personnel or others on engineering issues.
  • Participates in analyzing failed parts and makes recommendations and plan of action.
  • Prepares layout of new or old designs as needed and makes drawings of detailed parts and assemblies. Performs other related duties as required.
  • Adhere to aerospace industry regulations, quality standards, and best practices through the design and development process.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Strong in communication skills with suppliers, customers, and internal departments
  • Knowledge of Aerospace and Military standards
  • Blueprint reading, GD&T, Tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Understanding of machining and machine shop practices
  • Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD platforms
  • Experience with production assembly and test
  • Interpreting test data for accuracy and validity of conclusions
  • Follows company standards and procedures
  • Product lifecycle management (PLM) using Enovia, TeamCenter, or Windchill
  • Hands on design experience in mechanical, electro mechanical and hydraulic components
  • Basic understanding of materials and processing specs
  • Experience in hydraulic valves and components
  • Basic understanding of hydraulic schematics
  • Understands Fluid flow and has strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Prepares proposals for new products
  • Familiar with production and test documents, ATP, QTP, QTR
  • Experience creating part and assembly drawings and part lists
  • Experience in scientific analysis of products by performing Engineering calculations and analysis to support Qualification by Similarity, Analysis, and Failure Analysis
  • Basic understanding of stress analysis and FEA

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Experience as technical lead to take project from initial proposal through design, qualification, and production release
  • Coordinating with Engineering, Test, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer
  • Experience reviewing customer specs and extracting performance requirements to create Requirements Matrix and Source Control Drawings for sub components
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as FAA regulations and AS9100 quality management system.
  • Familiar with the tests in qualification standards MIL-STD-810 and DO-160
  • Familiar with hydraulics specification
  • Analyzes failures during qualification testing and performs RCCA
  • Experience with creating customer documents (SDRL)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or aerospace Engineering
  • 5 - 10 years of experience Aerospace design and manufacturing environment
  • Experience in Hydraulic and pneumatic components strongly preferred
