Johnson Service Group is looking for a Microbiologist for one of our Clients in San Jose. This person will be responsible for independently performing drinking water analysis with a focus on microbiological parameters. The ideal candidate will be proficient in lab operations, have a solid understanding of quality control procedures, and will assist in maintaining compliance with relevant state and federal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform independent analysis of drinking water for microbiological parameters.
Review and approve analytical data using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Update and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as assigned.
Prepare chemical reagents and microbial quality control standards for testing.
Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure timely purchase of supplies and reagents.
Conduct quality control tasks to ensure adherence to State regulations and testing standards.
Perform routine safety inspections of the laboratory to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Requirements:
Experience in operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
Familiarity with drinking water regulations and applicable testing methods.
Experience with quality control and quality assurance reviews.
Ability to coordinate with other laboratory sections, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of test results.
Familiarity with the Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) and/or The NELAC Institute (TNI) standards, or equivalent, as they pertain to water or wastewater analysis.
Experience in field sampling and chain-of-custody documentation preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel and Word.
Qualification Levels:
Level 1:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related scientific field.
Valid California driver’s license.
Level 2:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related scientific field.
Three (3) years of experience in water or wastewater analysis.
Valid California driver’s license.
Level 3:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in microbiology, molecular biology, or a related scientific field.
Five (5) years of experience in water or wastewater analysis.
Valid California driver’s license.
Rate starting at $43.60 DOE - Part- time 20 hours per weekÂ
