Temp to Perm Position Overview
NEON is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to lead our composites manufacturing area in Manchester, CT. This role is responsible for overseeing daily production activities with a focus on resin transfer molding (RTM) and related composite processes, as well as managing raw materials and driving Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and workplace organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily composite fabrication activities with primary focus on safety, quality, schedule, efficiency, and cost control.
Supervise: Cut, kit, layup, mold, deflash, bond, and assembly of composite components in accordance with engineering drawings, ply layup diagrams, and process standards.
Perform in-process inspections for FOD prevention, workmanship quality, and adherence to specifications.
Train, audit, and certify composite technicians; maintain training records per company requirements.
Provide daily work assignments and technical guidance to technicians.
Coordinate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality.
Own and drive work instruction improvements and process standardization initiatives.
Maintain production schedules and communicate status updates to Management.
Maintain a clean, organized work cell and support 5S initiatives.
Ensure compliance with PPE requirements and safe handling of materials, chemicals, and equipment.
Perform additional duties as required to support production objectives.
Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring technicians in a production environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Familiarity with AS9100 / ISO9001 quality standards and FOD prevention practices.
Root cause analysis and technical problem-solving.
Leadership and team development.
Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration.
Accountability and ownership mindset.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.
Ability to work OT when needed and some weekends.
Able to implement employee corrective actions.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
4+ years of experience in composites manufacturing, with leadership or supervisory experience
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP or similar) and Microsoft Office
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
Excellent communication and team leadership abilities
