Job Description

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruitment firm that is currently looking for a production Plant Engineer to fill a direct hire position in Lawrenceville, GA. 

Purpose of Position:
Plant Engineer who is willing to put in the necessary time and effort in order to help keep our plant operating efficiently and as scheduled. This individual will be a leader on the Production Operations team and will help the company implement 5S, Lean practices, and other continuous improvements to enhance production where needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
-This position will include a broad and ever-changing scope of responsibilities.
-Works for and reports to the President/CEO.
-Responsible for the safety, quality, productivity, and morale of the production and maintenance teams along with maintaining facility systems at optimal performance utilizing preventative maintenance and effective repairs at both production facilities.
-Oversees and manages production personnel, maintenance personnel, and projects at both production facilities.
-Develops and implements continuous improvement of both production facilities.
-Develops and oversees the maintenance schedule on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
-Responsible for developing and presenting the overall maintenance plan and schedule.
-Provides guidance and support when an issue occurs that is beyond the production or maintenance departments’ ability to resolve.
-Manages and builds upon existing Preventative Maintenance Program for equipment.
-Ensures Preventative Maintenance Program is maintained.
-Continuously working to keep unscheduled downtime to a minimum and increase equipment lifespan.
-Conducts Root Cause Analyses on equipment failures and proposes solutions to prevent future recurrences.
-Responsible for controlling downtime and adherence to the 24-hour downtime policy.
-Manages existing Work Order and Inventory Management software.
-Maintains and ensures regulatory compliance (Environmental, OSHA, NFPA, etc.).
-Responsible for submitting capital requests and preparing supporting information for annual budgets.
-Creates positive working relationships with other personnel in the plants.
-Actively participates in the Peachtree Safety Committee and helps influence total safety philosophy in the company’s on-going operations.
-Stays up to date with technological advancements in the corrugated industry to improve processes and production.
-Develops subordinates through education, training, and teamwork.
-Meets or exceeds plant productivity, cost, or other performance metric expectations as outlined by the President/CEO.
-Works with executive leadership team to keep the plant and all manufacturing assets on a continuous improvement path for quality and efficiency.
-Oversees new equipment installs, and existing equipment relocations as needed.
-Designs and implements components and devices that improve our equipment.
-Responsible for the maintenance department’s parts inventory.
-Expands and builds upon our library of machined parts so that we can have them made locally.
-Responsible for helping build the maintenance department team.
-Assists with Food Safety Audits and Food Safety compliance.
-Identify weak points in our equipment and in our automation and assist with developing and implementing solutions to resolve the weak points.
-Must be able to work long hours and overtime as needed.

-Potential challenges include managing a large (and nearly 24/7) operation to deliver consistent results, replacing skilled labor as needed, and driving productivity improvements around output and scrap while reducing recurring defects.

Education:
-Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Management required.

Experience:
-Minium of 5 years' experience working with and on industrial machinery and automation required.
-Minimum of 5 years working as a Plant Engineer in a manufacturing industry required.

-Effective time management and organizational skills.
-Knowledge and understanding of industrial machinery.
-Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems.
-Strong organizational skills and foresight for continuous improvement at the plant level.
-Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed.
-AUTOCAD skills with the ability to design and detail mechanical components.
-Ability to read electrical schematics and process flow diagrams.
-Independent and self-motivated but also able to work well with others.
-PLC knowledge and understanding.
-Siemens S7series Programming skills are a plus.
-Knowledge and understanding of Servo Driven systems.
-Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Physical Demands of the Essential Functions:
Walking, talking, twisting, reaching, hearing, and vision are required over 95% of the time while pushing and pulling are required about 15% of the time. Feeling is required 75% of the time, and bending is required about 20% of the time. Low levels of lifting (10 pounds or less) are required about 80% of the time, while medium levels of lifting and carrying (20 to 50 pounds) are required less than 10% of the time.



Job Type: Full-Time (Exempt)
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (extended hours/weekends as needed)
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Location: Lawrenceville, GA
