Job Description
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for a Material Planner with 3-5 years’ experience. This is a Temp-Direct hire opportunity with an Electronics Company in Van Nuys, CA.
Salary: $28.00 HR
The material planner is an essential member of the team. This role ensures a steady flow of material needed to keep the manufacturing lines operating with no downtime. In this position, the planner must balance inventory with capacity and customer delivery commits. The planner will establish the master production schedule with the production manager aligning our sales plan to our operational capacities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Key member in Customer Focus Team with a focus on material status and order deliveries
- Strive to follow through and meet customer’s expectation on delivery schedule
- Participate in customer weekly meetings to speak to delivery schedule
- Responsible for coordinating and developing production schedules on a daily, weekly and monthly basis to meet goals in collaboration with production leadership
- Works closely with manufacturing to prioritize and expedite production requirements based on material availability, resources, machine capacities and changing demand signals
- Identify, resolve, and forecast problems and potential solutions to inventory and quality
- Provide work order status and delivery schedule to program managers
- Follow up with purchasing to resolve any material issues in advance of release production orders
- Fast tracks and monitors quick turn jobs
- Responsible for ensuring on?time product delivery to customers
- Use capacity and material planning tools to determine future production constraints and develop appropriate recommendations such as overtime, capacity expansion, or expediting
- Manages inventory turns and Work In Process (WIP) aging
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- APICS certification preferred
- Experience in manufacturing industry, contract manufacturing preferable
- 3 – 5 years as a material planner or master scheduler
- Strong analytical skills
- ERP/MRP Systems
- Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong knowledge of Excel
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
