Project Engineer - Oil & Gas
Location: Downtown Calgary, AB.
Duration: Contract to Permanent Staff
Client Overview: Small sized engineering procurement and construction management company specializing in upstream and midstream projects. An integrated multi-discipline organization, with offices in Calgary, AB. And Houston, TX which offers a full spectrum of engineering services for identifying, planning, and executing projects and optimizing existing assets.
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Engineer to join our team, focusing on managing small-scale, fast-paced projects in the oil and gas industry, particularly with equipment packagers like compressor units. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the industry and capable of handling projects from inception to completion, including proposal writing, cost estimation, client communication, scope management, cost control, scheduling, and coordination with various teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead small-scale projects in the oil and gas sector, especially with equipment packagers, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
- Write proposals and prepare cost estimates for new projects.
- Handle all aspects of client communication, from initial contact to project completion, and develop strong client relationships.
- Manage scope deviations, maintaining project alignment with original objectives and client expectations.
- Oversee cost control and scheduling to ensure projects remain within budget and on time.
- Coordinate effectively with engineers and other team members to ensure seamless project execution.
- Work closely with the accounting department for accurate invoicing and financial tracking.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer or similar role in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of equipment packaging, particularly compressor units.
- Excellent skills in client communication and relationship building.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar.
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams.
