Johnson Service Group is looking for a Public Information Representative for our client in San Jose. This role focuses on fostering community understanding of the agency’s recycled and purified water initiatives through tours, events, and public engagement efforts. The ideal candidate will excel in communication, event coordination, and translating technical information into accessible terms for diverse audiences. Key Responsibilities: Tour Coordination:
Plan, organize, and coordinate public and private tours of the Silicon Valley Advanced Water Purification Center.
Serve as the primary tour guide, delivering engaging and informative presentations.
Manage tour scheduling, registration, and logistics to ensure smooth operations.
Public Outreach and Communication:
Develop and execute communication and outreach plans to promote the agency’s recycled and purified water programs.
Write, produce, and distribute multilingual public information and educational materials.
Plan and host special events, open houses, and activities for the community, stakeholders, and employees.
Prepare and deliver public presentations to community groups, youth organizations, and other audiences.
Foster relationships with stakeholders to advance program awareness and engagement.
Program Evaluation:
Track, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of outreach programs.
Provide recommendations for continuous improvement based on data and feedback.
Qualifications and Skills:
Excellent and confident public speaker.
Skilled at translating technical information for general audiences.
Comfortable hosting events and presentations both virtually and in person.
Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Knowledge of online and social media marketing practices.
Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to adjust communication style for diverse audiences.
Proven ability to develop positive working relationships with staff and external stakeholders.
Positive and enthusiastic attitude, with an interest and/or passion for environmental resources.
Requirements:
Experience in community outreach, event planning, or public education.
A background or interest in water reuse, environmental science, or a related field is a plus.
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, education, or a related field.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.
Experience for level 1:Â One (1) year of experience in public relations, public information, community relations, graphic design, education, or outreach activities.
Experience for level 2:Â Three (3) years of experience in public relations, graphic design, education and/or volunteer outreach, public information, community relations, or outreach activities.
Part Time: 20-30 hours per weekÂ
$43.60 - $48.13 DOE
