Johnson Service Group is looking for a Public Outreach Education for one of our Client’s in San Jose. This person would execute communications and public outreach plans for the agency’s recycled and purified water program.
Responsibilities:Â
 The Outreach level I:  primary responsibilities will include planning, organizing and coordinating public and private tours of the Water Purification Center in north San Jose.
The Outreach level II: will serve as a primary tour guide and manage tour scheduling and registration. Currently, tours are conducted in-person and virtually.
The level II will also implement and execute communications and public outreach plans for the agency’s recycled and purified water program, including: planning special events and open houses for the community, priority stakeholders and/or employees; writing and producing multi-lingual public information and education materials (print/digital/social media); preparing and making public presentations to community and youth groups; and tracking and analyzing program effectiveness. Some special events, open houses, presentations, and tours may occur on weekends or evenings. The candidate should be flexible and available to conduct or assist with evening or weekend events.
Qualifications:
Excellent and confident public speaker
Able to translate technical information for general audiences
Comfortable hosting events and presentations virtually and in-person
Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
Project management skills including juggling multiple tasks
Knowledge of online and social media marketing practices
Experience with Microsoft and Google Suite. Experience with Canva and other design platforms is a plus
Effective communicator, both verbally and written, and ability to adjust communication style with diverse audiences
Ability to develop positive working relationships with Valley Water staff and external stakeholders
Positive and enthusiastic attitude
Interested and or passionate about environmental resources and sustainability
Requirements:Â
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in communications, journalism, public relations, graphic design, education, or a related field. Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement based on one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.
or three (3) years of experience in public relations, graphic design, education and/or volunteer outreach, public information, community relations, or outreach activities. Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement based on one and a half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.
Valid California driver’s license.Â
Desired, but not required: fluency and proficient literacy in another language such as Vietnamese, Chinese, Spanish, or Tagalog
This is a Part-time role 20-25 hours per week
$43.60/hour, Outreach I
$48.13/hour, Outreach II
