Johnson Service Group is looking for a Public Information Rep (Education Outreach) for one of our Clients in San Jose. The Education Outreach role involves delivering educational programming across various settings, preparing materials, supporting curriculum creation, and assisting in outreach to youth-focused organizations.
Responsibilities:
• Present programming such as lessons, tours, and assemblies in classroom, outdoor, and virtual settings.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain teaching materials.
• Support the creation of educational curriculum and newsletters.
• Assist with data collection and record keeping.
• Support outreach to schools, libraries, summer camps, and youth-serving organizations.
• Provide administrative and operational assistance when needed within the Office of Civic Engagement.
Ideal candidate characteristics and skills:
• Strong written and verbal skills, with directly relatable experience in conveying direction/ instructions to various audiences.
• Strong presentation abilities, including skills related to engaging diverse youth audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Qualifications and requirements:.
• 960 hours through June 30, 2025 (with the option to extend into the following fiscal year).
• Be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week, Monday-Friday with core hours of 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (averaging 15-20 hours per week).
• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education, public relations, communications, or a related field.
• One (1) year of experience in education, outreach activities, community relations, or public relations.
• Experience working with youth in grades K-12 highly desired, including collaboration with school staff such as teachers, office staff, and administrators.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license.
• May require T.B. test and fingerprinting clearance.
Rate starting at $43.60 DOE - Part- time 20 hours per weekÂ
