The Rail Fleet Coordinator manages assigned rail fleet activity within North America, Canada, and Mexico by monitoring railcar movement through use of rail industry software (Intellitrans) and analytic reporting. This role requires working on a collaborative team with strong communication skills, attention to detail and to interface with external rail vendors as well as internal stakeholders to identify and respond to rail trends, fleet metrics, and future operational requirements. The scope of accountability for the Rail team includes all bulk liquids (Crude Oil and other renewable/non-hydrocarbon feedstocks, Refined Products, Specialty Products, NGLs/LPGs etc.)
The position is Houston HQ based and will require some after-hours coverage along with approximately 5-10% travel as needed.
Responsibilities may include:
· Perform daily tracking and tracing of rail fleet equipment, maintaining and documenting data in rail tracking system (Intellitrans) and railroad systems.
· Daily proactive communication with railroads to resolve all types of service issues including First Mile and Last Mile local service.
· Generate bills of lading, diversions and or reships as needed for the assigned fleets.
· Managing EDI billing issue as they arise.
· Manage rail fleet at storage facilities.
· Develop and manage rail reports for managing rail pipeline and regulatory testing and working with railroads on systemic resolution.
· Supply management of empty and loaded railcars to/from all locations.
· Analysis and Query of rail movement data to build metrics, identify operational cost drivers, trends, and drive optimization improvements.
· Collaborate with business units by identifying trends and providing recommendations on fleet utilization and optimization.
· Participate in rail carrier and stakeholder business reviews utilizing rail data and metrics to drive business improvement for rail activity.
· Understanding the basic principles of rail fleet management to ensure movements are commercially acceptable.
· Assisting accounts payables team on verifying car movement and verification of secondary cost.
· Interface with other rail teams (Rail Contracting, Maintenance, and Leasing) to manage related issues and drive process improvements.
· Travel to rail operational sites as needed to understand and manage facility infrastructure constraints and service meetings with the railroads.
· Training and backup on other desks on the rail operations team.
· Understanding and abiding by the rules/requirements of rail regulatory activity.
Basic/Required:
· Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
· High school degree or GED equivalent
· Two or more years of data analysis experience
· Proficient in Microsoft Office products
· Ability to set, manage and meet multiple priorities
· Work well in a team environment navigating through high pressure situations
· Two or more years of logistics, Truck or rail operations or gas industry experience
· Work extended and non-standard hours as needed
