Johnson Service Group (JSG), a nationally recognized recruiting firm, is assisting our global manufacturing client in their search for a direct-hire
Marine Field Service Technician. This is a customer-facing role that requires a high degree of expertise and the ability to work independently.  Marine Field Service Technicians also receive specialized and targeted training in troubleshooting, technical procedures, and safety.  
Travel: up to 25% expected with occasional overnights as needed

Duties:
  • Use troubleshooting techniques to diagnose problems/cause of failure. 
  • Remove/disassemble and assemble/install marine engine components and parts.
  • Clean, repair, recondition, and maintain marine equipment and components.
  • Test, measure, and adjust marine engine and machine systems and components.
  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to successfully complete tasks.
  • Order replacement parts ensuring that orders are correct and complete.
  • Clean, repair, recondition and maintain marine engines, generators, and components.
  • Test, measure, and adjust marine engine and power system components
  • Prepare, inspect, and operate machines prior to delivery.
  • Prepare inspection and appraisal reports, complete accurate service reports and other necessary reports and forms.
  • Must be willing to do occasional travel for 2-3 days at a time
Requirements:
  • High school diploma required, Associates degree in related field, preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience diagnosing, testing and repairing marine application engines on pleasure and/or commercial crafts.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and proper repair procedures is required.
  • Ability to work independently and can complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills; detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Proven customer service skills, able to work with a diverse customer base and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Working Conditions:
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
  • Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
  • Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
  • Job requires working in confined spaces with limited ability to move around.
  • Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Must be able to lift varied weight – up to 75lbs unassisted.
  • Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
  • Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
