Johnson Service Group (JSG), a nationally recognized professional staffing firm, is recruiting a Senior Structural Design Engineer to support cutting-edge nuclear projects. This is a full-time, remote role within the United States. Extensive ANSYS expertise and prior management experience are required.
Job Title:Senior Structural Design Engineer – Remote (U.S.) Salary: $160,000 – $180,000/year Type: Full-Time Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder Position Summary: Apply technical knowledge and judgment to perform civil structural design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures. Candidates should have a strong background in concrete and steel design in a nuclear or heavy industry background, be capable of leading technical teams, and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers. Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Civil Engineering; advanced degree preferred
Minimum 12 years of full-time, highly relevant structural design experience
Extensive ANSYS experience required
Prior management experience required
Proven ability to lead complex projects and provide technical mentorship
Strong knowledge of concrete and steel structural design and analysis
Working knowledge of ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual, Seismic Design Manual
Programming experience in Python or Matlab preferred but not required
PE license strongly preferred
Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
Exceptional organizational, time management, technical writing, and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as subject matter expert in civil structural design, resolving complex technical issues
Lead interdisciplinary discussions and coordinate with management on project impacts
Manage technical teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and oversight
Propose innovative design solutions using independent judgment on highly complex tasks
Perform structural design and post-processing analyses of concrete, steel, and foundation systems using ANSYS
Develop and review requirements documents, design reports, studies, and technical specifications
Communicate effectively with contractors, regulatory bodies, and multi-disciplinary teams
Lead high-impact projects in advanced nuclear reactor design
Collaborative, innovative, and safety-focused environment
