** Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Structural Designer SR 2 to fill a two-year contract assignment in the Birmingham, AL area.
This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Requirements:
Experience:
20+ years heavy industrial/power plant experience.
Job responsibilities:
Producing 3D models and design drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and/or ductwork.
Preparing layouts and conceptual designs
Reviewing vendor shop fabrication drawings
Preparing material takeoffs and assist with cost estimates
Coordinating work with other disciplines, clients, and contractors
Performing site walk-downs for field verification and to address constructability
Skillsets and Expertise:
Proficient using AutoCAD
3D modeling is strongly preferred
Experience with Microsoft/Bentley and/or Advance Steel is preferred.
Steel and concrete detailing background is strongly preferred.
Good Technical writing skills
Must be able to produce clear, concise drawing notes
Able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently
The ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
